CREATING THE CREATIVE CONFLUENCE FUND IDENTITY + WEBSITE

The three organizations had been in conversation about this concept since early last year. I was aware of the project while leadership between the three organizations were in conversation with the plan being that I would be the brand and identity designer.

I was brought to develop the visual direction, which started with coming up with a name. My first meeting was catching up to speed on all the decisions already made with the grant, the location specificity, funding amount, timelines. What we needed was a name before starting on a proper identity. I was added to the naming committee brainstormed and developed concepts over the course of two weeks along with representatives from Hall Family and ArtsKC.

From there I was solely in charge of presenting a direction which included different visual directions. When conceptualizing I kept in mind the visual elements that could allude to the name, as well as comparing its visual identity to those of other local, regional, and national arts-engaged organizations. Additionally, proposed colors were tested in combinations for legibility (using WebAIM).

Of these directions one was ultimately decided by unanimous vote between the two teams and we moved into the social media and website phase of the project.

For social media I worked closely with Karla from ArtsKC who also worked on the website with me alongside ArtsKC’s web developer Josh. Together Karla and I developed a social media campaign that I then designed.

A subgroup was formed to determine the layout of the website, including necessary content and design elements which was then built inside of Wordpress using the Elementor plugin. Josh with direction from Karla and myself designed the website in real time with direct input to the patterning of color, size of text, and placement of buttons.
