Terrible Lizard
Dinosaurs as composition. Dinosaurs as method. Dinosaurs as design.
Dinosaur names themselves are mostly combinations of Greek and Latin root words chosen to describe characteristics or assumed behavior the creatures may have had. However, the word “dinosaur” itself was coined by Richard Owen, the first director of London’s Natural History Musuem, in 1841. “Dino” derived from the Greek deinos (terrible) and sour” from sauros (lizard).
After completing 500 squares using graphite, black ink, indigo ink, dirt and red water, 15 compositions were chosen to be expanded upon in a more fully rendered context. From those 15, three animated gifs were made using Procreate, PhotoShop and Google Tilt Brush (VR).
